In our February newsletter we mentioned an upcoming event called In Perfect Harmoney that was held in Tucson on February 16,17. The event included a screening of the documentary called Encounter Point on the evening of the 16th. This is a powerful movie about Palestinian and Isreali families working together for peace. It is available at www.justvision.org A discussion followed the movie, co-facilitated by Rabbi Rami Shapiro and Dr. Maha Nassar.
The next day there was more discussion. I did some graphic recording of one of the discussions. I'll post a photo in the next post. There was also a presentation by artists Sama Alshaibi and Beth Krensky about work they collaborated on. Their art will be in Tucson in the spring. It is very impactful.
On the evening of the 16th there was a concert in Centennial Hall by Arab and Jewish musicians. One of the musicians called this "Arab and Jewish music holding hands." More information at www.interculturaljourneys.org

In Perfect Harmony

Celtic Wisdom - the island of black and white
The island of black and white is the title of the celtic wisdom card that has this image on it.
The back of the card says:
Mael Duin, a brave seafarar, discovered an island with a brass fence down its middle. On one side were black sheep, on the other white sheep. Whenever a sheep passed through a gate from one side to the other it changed from white to black, or vice versa. The Celts realized that harmony was a balance of opposites.
Contemplate your own traits and characteristics and meditate on how the merging of opposites may create harmony and balance in all aspects of your life. With sincere intention, our least desirable qualities may transform into strengths or virtues.
